San Jose Mercury News San Jose, CA 2006.10 - 2009.02

In addition to daily news coverage for the print edition, produced video and multimedia coverage for an award-winning news website on deadline. Shot, produced and edited a number of video series for the News, Features, Technology and Home   Garden departments of the website using multiple camera shooting and screen capture software. Produced and custom-built dynamic multimedia packages in Flash for special online projects including interactive graphics, photo galleries, audio slideshows and video players. Filled in on as picture editor when needed. Served as web master for MercuryNewsPhoto.com.

Reporting Grant

Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting Petén, Guatemala 2008.06

Part of a four-person team awarded a grant to report environmental stories in the Guatemalan rainforest. Shot video and still photography and blogged on archeological excavations of Mayan ruins and local community reaction to development plans being imposed by the national government.

Covered daily news, sports, features for a major daily newspaper on tight deadlines. Worked closely with reporters to coordinate coverage. Covered breaking news as well as longer term enterprise projects throughout Colorado.
